W.C. Maunders Ltd. is still a family run independent company. The father of the current owners — a carpenter by trade — started the business as a building company in the mid-1940s.
The company gradually moved towards retail and after trading successfully for a number of years established itself as a limited company in 1952, becoming Cheddar’s first builders merchants and DIY supplies. The company has gone from strength to strength ever since.
